Keeping Sleep Simple

5 top tips for keeping it simple at bedtime. The world is full of distractions, tech, excitement and all kinds of things that actually make getting to sleep harder. At Arthur we believe that getting back to basics can make all of the difference:

  1. Charge devices downstairs at night. They create a lot of light, they vibrate, they make noise and are just full of stimulation. So make a habit of leaving phones etc. downstairs and see the difference it makes! If you use your phone as an alarm clock, switch it for the old fashioned kind.
  2. Read for a few minutes; it doesn't matter what it is, but the ritual of a bit of reading just changes the mood and sets you on the way to the land of nod. If you don't read well, don't worry... It can be a children's book, a magazine or anything.
  3. Change your sheet regularly. Fresh smelling sheets feel so good and having a little routine of changing them regularly makes going to bed that little bit more special.
  4. Make sure your room is as dark as possible. Darkness gives our eyes the opportunity to rest, so a dark room is easier to get to sleep in.
  5. Temperature is important, everyone is a bit different, some of us get hot, some get cold but whichever way you go, try to have a moderate temperature in your bedroom.
